Set smaller goals (realistic) when trying to reach your ultimate goal in life. The old saying "Rome wasn't built in a day" really applies when it comes to setting goals. Goals must be set that are attainable. After you have reached your goal, then set the bar a little higher each time. With hard work and dedication you can eventually reach your ultimate goal.

Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal.
Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.
I don't care how much power, brilliance or energy you have, if you don't harness it and focus it on a specific target, and hold it there you're never going to accomplish as much as your ability warrants.

When you hear someone making a new year's resolution, what scale of credibility will you give that person? And will the subsequent course of events cause the person to appear weak, or strong? Resolutions are basically known as "hollow dreams." The same is true for goals, when those goals are too unrealistic. This article will show the reader how to get results from goals, and how to maintain the success to the point of true achievement, and of gaining sincere admiration from peers. read more

Good goals for the New Year varies person to person. There are always the generic ones "lose weight, eat healthy". However to set a good goal for 2013 the person should really think of something they really want to accomplish. Research their goal and then start setting goals to acheive it. Reaching a long term goal takes dedication and work. And to stick to it through the tough times requires motivation, dedication and will power.
I am currently working on my own long term goal of starting my own business. The past few months I have spent hours researching how to open a business. The costs of opening the business, cost of equipment, advertising, ect. I have also reached out through social networks to get involved in gatherings of small business owners, mentoring and free classes through the SBA. It has been rough. I have keept myself motivated by reminding myself why I started this venture in the first place. I have dedicated myself and made myself accountable. I created small goals and worked towards obtaining them. Small goals included, buying domain name, creating business cards, create online ad, book first gig, attend SBA meeting, sign up for mentoring, and many others. Each small goal gets you one step closer to the main goal.

I like to create a "dream board". Its a board, sitting proudly in front of my computer with all the things I want. Some are material (a beautiful house, nice car, more handbags etc) and some are about family and loved ones.

It keeps me motivated to have physical reminders or what I'm working towards smile I also like having a calendar and forcing myself to stick with it. I also try to do one thing every single day that will move me towards my goal. Even if it is small.

Create goals that are small enough to be completed in a regular increment of time. For example, if the goal is "save for college", break it down into a regular, small task like "send a $50 check to the child's 529 plan on the first of the month". If the goal is "lose weight", turn it into a specific task like "walk 20 minutes each day". If the goal is "give more", turn it into "give at least $20 a week at church" or "donate food or money at the grocery store's food bank collection". Turn a big goal into a small one that you make progress toward each day, week or month.
