Hi Simone, As a self-employed person, I know the buck literally stops here and I had better be keeping good records. I will create a Hub on Bookkeeping for Small Business (exact title to be determined).
In terms of personal home budget accounting, I have taken the advice of Pam Young in her "Get out of Debt" book (The GOOD book) and mostly use cash, instead of the hole in the wall mentality and credit cards! I don't see a hub on here about it.
I just wrote a hub dealing with small business accounting tips. Many of the principles could apply to personal accounting as well.

I like to use a credit card to keep track of all my expenses. If you do it right you can see exactly where all your money is going. At the same time you are able to consolidate your credit card statement and sort out tax deductible receipts.
