One good way to stimulate a child's mind is to encourage them to read more. I'm talking about all children, including ones who need extra help. First, ask your child what they like to read about. You can get your child to read more when there's a lot of what they like available. Spend some time with them and see what a difference it makes! Your child is most likely enjoying the extra attention you're giving them. Try to Introduce new ideas to keep things from getting boring. Some games for your child's age group would be nice to reinforce what they've already learned. It gets even better when you have a computer to play those games on! You could invite a friend or two to play the games or read with your child. The friends might like the books and want to read them too. When your child can show his friends how to play the games he gets a boost in his self esteem. What you don't want to do, however, is push too hard to get your child to read. It's okay to take a break for a day. There's no need to rush this at all. Learning to read should be compared to a flower. When it slowly blooms in the springtime should be how fast you take to get good results.
